World Series Final Game Attracts Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the US, Canada and Japan Regions.

The exciting 11-inning contest that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 drew a combined 51M viewers across the United States, Canadian, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball announced this is the highest-rated World Series Game 7 after the 1991 showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

The Saturday epic game secured 27.33M audience members on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It additionally stands as the top-rated Fall Classic game after the 2017 final game involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew over 29 million. This represents a 16% increase over the last finale between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 ranked fourth, the fourth game was seventh, Game 5 was 8th, and the third game landed in thirteenth position.

Global Audience Numbers

In Canada, the climactic game averaged 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English broadcast in Canada since the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 p.m. local time, it attracted 12 million. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – averaged 13.1M viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Averages and Trends

The full seven-game World Series recorded 15.71M viewers on Fox, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen audience increases for two straight years.

Counting the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the total US average was 16.1M. The total Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels recorded 8.09 million viewers, an 8% rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s best postseason ratings since 2017.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in sixteen different tongues.
